After meeting at Plaza de la Peregrina, we'll set off on a journey through the flavors and aromas of the Atlantic. Ready for a food tour of Pontevedra? A real treat awaits!
The route takes in some of the main spots in Pontevedra's historic center, including Praza da Ferrería, Praza da Leña, Praza da Verdura, and Praza da Estrela. As we walk, we'll learn all about Galician culinary tradition, the history behind its produce, and the role food plays in local life.
We'll also head into the traditional Mercado Municipal. Walking among stalls piled with octopus, mussels, scallops, and cockles, we'll talk about the work and history behind the region's best-known products.
Between the stalls, we'll uncover the secrets of the age-old techniques behind local recipes and the region's wine production. Which dish best represents Pontevedra? What's the story behind each specialty? The curiosities keep coming!
The tour will introduce you to the significance of dishes such as empanada gallega, pulpo a feira, tortilla, and Albariño wine. To round things off, you'll also enjoy a tapa and a drink of your choice.
Finally, after 1.5 hours, the tour comes to an end at a venue in Pontevedra's old town.
