Explore an Arab-Norman fortress with this ticket to Taormina Castle. It also includes an audio guide. Ready to travel back in time?
With this ticket to Taormina Castle, you'll be able to go into this Arab-Norman fortress, also called the Saracen Castle or the Castle of Mount Tauro. Did you know that for centuries it was a strategic point of control for the routes from Catania to Messina?
With the help of an audio guide in English, you'll be able to get to know the castle's layout while you explore at your own pace. The audioguide also comes with a detailed map of the 21 points of interest to visit inside the castle. These include everything from the tower to the city walls, over 4 metres (13 feet) high.
You'll also discover the history of this bastion, from its Byzantine origins up to the Viceroyalty era of Sicily, passing through the Saracen invasions, the Hohenstaufen rule, and the domination of the Crown of Aragon.
Additionally, once you return the audioguide, before leaving the castle, you'll receive a personalised "Nobilis Castri Tauromenii" certificate with two of the Taormina Castle's seals. What a great souvenir by which to remember your experience in this architectural gem!
The castle has the following opening times:
