We'll meet at 2504 Prytania St and begin our walk through this captivating district. We'll admire the towering southern live oak trees, splendid crepe myrtles, and breathtaking magnolias, creating an ambiance reminiscent of a fairy tale.
During the tour, we'll see New Orleans' most iconic homes, including the Benjamin Button House and the residence featured as the "Coven" in American Horror Story. We'll learn about mysterious and beloved real and fictional people who have lived in this neighborhood.
The guide will reveal the deep and fascinating history of the Garden District, delving into its role in the broader narrative of New Orleans. Explore the dynamics of envy and distrust that fueled the rivalry between the "new money" Americans and the "old money" Europeans on the opposite side of town.
During your garden district walking tour, we'll also visit Lafayette No. 1, the oldest Municipal Cemetery in New Orleans. This historic site has served as a backdrop for famous movies and TV shows, such as Interview with a Vampire and Double Jeopardy.
